ONCE WERE BROTHERS

ROBBIE ROBERTSON AND THE BAND

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 22 Film Screening @ 8:00 PM

Meet & Greet With Elliott Landy at 6:30 PM

Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band is a compelling, cautionary, and occasionally humorous tale of one of the most enduring groups in the history of popular music, The Band. The film documents the group’s formation, time on the road with Bob Dylan, late-1960s and early-1970s peak and legendary The Last Waltz final concert.

The film blends a treasure trove of archival footage, iconic photography by Elliott Landy, glorious songs, and interviews  with many of Robertson’s friends and collaborators, including Martin Scorsese, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel, Taj Mahal, and Robertson himself.

Directed by  Daniel Roher,  the film is a moving story of Robertson’s personal journey, overcoming adversity and finding camaraderie alongside the four other men-Levon Helm (drums), Rick Danko (bass), Richard Manuel (keyboards), Garth Hudson (multi-instrumentalist)- who would become his brothers in music, together making their mark on music history.

Meet Eye-Witness to Rock N Roll History Elliott Landy

Prior to the film, please join us for a very special photo exhibit and Meet & Greet with world renowned music photographer Elliott Landy. Over 130 photos from Elliott’s 1968 photo sessions with The Band appear in the film.

If you owned a record or read a magazine during the 1960’s & 1970s’s you know Landy’s photos.

His celebrated images include Bob Dylan (Nashville Skyline), The Band (Music From Big Pink, and The Band), Janis Joplin (Big Brother & The Holding Company: Cheap Thrills), Van Morrison (Moondance), Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and the Woodstock Festival of which he was one of the official photographers.

Starting at 6:30 PM his iconic photos as well as images from the film will be on display and available for purchase in our pop up gallery. At 7:30pm Elliott takes the stage to reveal behind the scenes stories about the now legendary photo session. At 8:00 PM the film screening will begin.
