This December, the beloved holiday classic IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE will come to The Palace, live on stage, but with a very clever twist. It will be performed as an old time radio broadcast. George Bailey, Mary, Mr Potter, and Clarence will all be there along with a few special surprises.

WHAT IS A LIVE RADIO PLAY? A long long time ago… before television or the internet… families would  sit around the radio listening to their favorite programs. Radio shows were usually  performed by  an ensemble of actors playing multiple characters. Along with the actors there was also the FOLEY ARTIST who was the person responsible for all of the sounds created during the show.

The play follows the story of George Bailey, a good man who has become disillusioned and lost the will to live. The lovable guardian angel-in-training, Clarence eagerly accepts the challenge to earn his wings and show George what life would be like if he wasn’t born. Together they travel back through George’s life guiding him to a change of heart and understanding the true spirit of Christmas.

Directed by Erik Tonner and produced by  Pamme Jones, the play features Scott Schulte, Rick Hodder, Laurie Middleton, Lisa Tancredi, and Eric Greenfeld in over 40 different roles!

Marina and Delany Tonner are our dynamic duo foley artists who create the live sound effects. These two gals are wizards in turning household objects like bubble wrap and breakfast cereal into cracking ice, car doors slamming, fist fights and thunder!
